Welcome to FurKid. These Sitter Terms of Service govern your use of the FurKid platform as an independent pet care provider. By creating a sitter account, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not register as a sitter.
1. Independent Contractor Status
You are an independent contractor, not an employee, agent, or partner of FurKid. You are solely responsible for your own business, taxes, insurance, and compliance with all applicable laws. Nothing in these terms creates an employment relationship.
2. Eligibility and Vetting
You must be at least 18 years old and legally authorized to work in your jurisdiction. FurKid requires all sitters to pass a background check through our partner Checkr before being activated on the platform. You agree to provide accurate information and to notify us of any criminal convictions or legal changes that may affect your eligibility.
3. Fees and Payments
FurKid charges zero platform fees on your bookings. The rate you set is the amount you keep, minus standard payment processing costs charged by our payment provider. You set your own rates and may adjust them at any time. Payouts are made to your linked bank account on a schedule you select. You are responsible for reporting all income and paying applicable taxes.
4. Services and Standards
You agree to provide the services listed on your profile with professionalism, punctuality, and care. You must communicate clearly with pet parents, follow their instructions, and send updates as agreed. You may not subcontract bookings to another person without the pet parent's explicit written consent.
5. Cancellations
You must honor all confirmed bookings unless an emergency prevents you from doing so. If you must cancel, notify the pet parent and FurKid immediately. Repeated cancellations, last-minute cancellations, or no-shows may result in account suspension or removal from the platform.
6. Safety and Liability
You are responsible for the safety and well-being of pets in your care. You agree to follow all care instructions, administer medications only as directed, and seek emergency veterinary care when necessary. You must have a reliable means of transportation and a backup plan in case of illness or emergency.
7. Insurance
FurKid strongly recommends that you carry general liability insurance and, if applicable, commercial auto insurance. While FurKid may offer supplemental coverage in the future, you acknowledge that you are currently responsible for your own insurance and that FurKid is not liable for property damage, pet injury, or personal injury arising from your services.
8. Off-Platform Transactions
All bookings must be made and paid through the FurKid platform. Accepting payments outside the platform violates these terms and may result in immediate account termination. Off-platform bookings void FurKid's protections for both you and the pet parent.
9. Reviews and Reputation
Reviews are a critical part of the FurKid marketplace. You may not solicit fake reviews, offer compensation for positive reviews, or retaliate against a pet parent for a negative review. You may respond professionally to reviews through the platform.
10. Account Suspension and Termination
FurKid may suspend or terminate your account for: violations of these terms, failed background checks, fraudulent activity, unsafe behavior, repeated cancellations, harassment, or any conduct that harms the platform or its users. You may deactivate your account at any time by contacting support.
11. Dispute Resolution
Any dispute between you and FurKid shall first be addressed through informal negotiation. If unresolved, disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association. You agree to waive any right to a jury trial or class action.
12. Changes to Terms
FurKid may update these Sitter Terms of Service from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or platform notification. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
